Have you ever heard of a workplace that is conflict-free? Neither have we and most likely because it doesn’t exist. Every single organisation worldwide has a certain level of conflict and it exists internally within the organisation and can exist externally with other companies as well.<\/span><\/h5>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The level of conflict is the main focus area when dealing with conflicts and as a leader, you’ll see it with your team members but the severity of the conflict determines how you deal with it. You could find two members having a healthy conflict on how to perform a certain task and they are competitive with each other in doing it perfectly but they aren’t really fighting and this would show a healthy interaction between people.<\/span><\/h5>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Or you could have a more severe conflict where two team members are complaining about each other for whatever reason that is not related to work. Conflict cannot disappear, it happens and will happen, and dealing with it is the leader’s part.<\/span><\/h5>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Conflict management is a skill that leaders must be able to use when needed to help foster a productive working environment. There is a realisation that conflict management should be a skill that leaders need to give priority to learning and learning it inside out.<\/span><\/h5>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The inability of a leader to deal with conflict will not only lead to negative outcomes but may also undermine the credibility of the leader to lead the team.<\/span><\/h5>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

According to the Webster Dictionary, defines conflict as “the competitive or opposing action of incompatibles: an antagonistic state or action.” For some, the definition of conflict may include war, military conflict, or political conflict.<\/span><\/h5>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

For others, conflict means the disagreement that arises when two or more people or parties share a common goal. Conflict means different things to different people, so finding a universal or true definition is very difficult.<\/span><\/h5>
To further complicate this, if one party feels that they are in a conflicting situation, the other party may think that they are simply discussing their disagreement.<\/span><\/h5>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

This level of conflict occurs when two people have different goals or approaches in their relationship.<\/span>
Each individual has their own type of personality, and because of this there will always be differences in choices and opinions.<\/span>

This level of conflict occurs within the individual and their mind.
This is a physiological type of conflict involving thoughts, feelings, desires, values \u200b\u200b, and principles.
Conflicts of this kind can be difficult to resolve if the person struggles to interpret their inner struggles which can lead to visible symptoms that are shown similar to depression.
This level of conflict can create another level of conflict when individuals are unable to find solutions on their own.
People who are unable to deal with their own internal conflicts can affect their relationships with others and therefore create interpersonal conflicts.<\/h5>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/details>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t

This level of conflict occurs when two different groups or teams within the same organisation have a disagreement.
This may be a result of competition for resources, differences in goals or interests, or even threats to group identity.
This type of conflict can be very destructive and escalate very quickly if not resolved effectively.
This can ultimately lead to high costs for the organisation.
On the other hand, intergroup conflict can lead to remarkable progress towards a positive outcome for the organisation if it is managed properly.<\/h5>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/details>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t

This level of conflict can occur between two individuals who are within the same group or team.
Similar to interpersonal conflict, disagreements between team members typically are a result of different personalities.
Within a team, conflict can be very beneficial as it can lead to progress in accomplishing team objectives and goals.
