Management by objectives is a method of performance appraisals that are not based on the targets that are set by the leaders on their own.<\/h5>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t
In order for it to work, it has to be defined by both the leader and the team member individually.<\/h5>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t
It’s an exciting way of doing performance appraisals but it could get a little time-consuming doing it for everyone.<\/h5>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t
Usually, MBO is done in the middle of a process for a performance improvement plan (PIP) so the leader and the person being set on the plan to make sure they are fully aligned on the objective or the goal they’re trying to reach.<\/h5>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

In other words, if the team members themselves are involved in setting the targets, they would be more motivated to reach them and accept if there’s a discussion about poor performance.<\/h5>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Once organisational goals are determined and shared with the teams, the leaders now sit with the team members individually to set personal goals. Usually doing one-on-one sessions.<\/span><\/h5>
