Transactional leadership<\/h3>\n

Transactional leadership is a leadership style that is more directly focused on a structured, directed, and disciplined environment.<\/h5>\n
This leadership is focused on leading by telling people what to do, giving expectations, and requiring rules or regulations.<\/h5>\n
Transactional leadership often involves rewards and punishments to get employees to do what they are told.<\/h5>\n
Routines, schedules, rules, and formal authority are key components of transactional leaders.<\/h5>\n
Unlike transformational leadership, this leadership style does not encourage giving the team autonomy and ability to be innovative and creative,<\/h5>\n
It encourages reward and punishment type of leadership that’s why it’s also known as managerial leadership.<\/h5>\n
It’s a leadership style where the leader relies on rewards and punishments to achieve optimal job performance from their subordinates which is sometimes necessary with certain types of mindsets where you need to be very specific with the expectations.<\/h5>\n
Transactional leaders have a high degree of clarity.<\/h5>\n
Employees know exactly what their leader expects from them.<\/h5>\n
As a result, they feel productive in reaching clearly defined goals and objectives.<\/h5>\n
This leads to effective leadership where group performance matters and for some team members,<\/h5>\n
this could be the leadership style that will help them thrive.
It would be easier to understand transactional leadership if you just put it against transformational leadership in all aspects.
Transactional leadership might be necessary if you’re looking to focus on short-term goals during a crisis mode.<\/h5>\n
It’s a style that always goes back to the rules and regulations of the organisation to achieve decision making whether to reward to enforce penalties, as simple as that.<\/h5>\n
