Learning from mistakes

It’s obvious that mistakes are a part of life in general but if you take it the wrong way, it could be self-destructing You need to understand that learning from mistakes is about understanding what you did wrong and making sure that you do not do it again not about avoiding making mistakes.<\/h5>\n
Failure is emotionally charged, and getting a mindset to accept failure takes good leadership.
Most leaders want to help their team learn from their mistakes to improve performance.<\/h5>\n
The challenge here is to make it safe for people to admit and report errors and mistakes, and for leaders to deal positively and optimistically with them at the same time keeping up high standards of performance expectations.<\/h5>\n
You need to make sure that team members understand the goal is to learn not to be punished.<\/h5>\n
Work towards reducing the feeling of shame in failure within your team and this can only be achieved by your reaction to it and how it’s looked at within your team.
Anger will never help, you need to be very careful if you show anger or strong disapproval of what may at first appear to be a sign of incompetence.<\/h5>\n

Use the best individual approach to solving every mistake or error so that it does not happen again and know very well that some failures are unavoidable in the modern, complex fast-moving workplace no matter what you do so the best course of action is to accept it.<\/h5>\n
Accepting failure as well comes with a limit. If the mistake is a repetitive outcome then there might be something wrong that needs to be addressed either in the team member or even the process that is responsible for this outcome, it’s not always related to people.<\/h5>\n
A big negative flag that the environment doesn’t accept mistakes and deal with them effectively is the appearance of a blame culture.<\/h5>\n
A blame culture is when people are blamed for mistakes constantly and sometimes without investigation,<\/h5>\n
You see people pointing fingers at other people once a mistake pops up.<\/h5>\n
This leads to an unwillingness to take risks or to accept responsibility for mistakes due to a fear of being blamed or criticized.<\/h5>\n
When people blame others for their mistakes,
They tend to learn less and perform worse and how you as a leader deal with the dynamics of praise and blame around you has a huge impact on the quality of your work and influences whether you grow in your career or don’t.<\/h5>\n
The problem with blame is that it’s very contagious,<\/h5>\n
Imagine a situation when a newcomer has recently joined the team and they see someone who’s senior blaming someone else for something,<\/h5>\n
They are most likely to follow the same way of addressing mistakes and you’ll find them blaming others for their own,<\/h5>\n
