Managers who adopt Theory X assumptions tend to rely on external rewards and punishments as motivators.<\/h5>\n<h5>Managers who hold Theory X assumptions tend to rely on external rewards and punishments to motivate their employees. On the other hand, Theory Y suggests that individuals are self-motivated and enjoy work, viewing it as a natural part of their lives.<\/h5>\n<h5>Under Theory X, the management style is authoritative and directive, with a focus on strict rules, procedures, and hierarchical structures.
