Selective Attention:<\/h3>\n

Attention determines which stimuli individuals focus on and allocate cognitive resources to. In the organisational context, employees selectively attend to certain organisational events and behaviors while filtering out others. This selective attention is influenced by various factors, including personal goals, task relevance, and environmental cues.<\/h5>\n
For example, employees may pay attention to a manager’s feedback during a performance review, perceiving it as a crucial indicator of their performance and future career prospects. Alternatively, they may focus on negative or challenging aspects of their work environment, such as a coworker’s criticism or an organisational change, leading to a biased interpretation of the overall organisational climate.<\/h5>\n
