Internal and External Attributions<\/h3>\n

Attribution theory distinguishes between internal and external attributions. Internal attributions assign the cause of an event or behavior to personal characteristics, such as abilities, motivations, or personality traits. External attributions, on the other hand, attribute the cause to situational factors or external circumstances beyond an individual’s control.<\/h5>\n
For example, if an employee receives a promotion, internal attribution would assume that their abilities, skills, or efforts contributed to their success.
