Lesson 2: What is Strategy ?<\/h2>\n

Mintzberg’s 5 Ps of Strategy<\/h3>\n

One of the very well-known methods for strategy development is Mintzberg’s 5 Ps of Strategy.<\/h5>\n
Many of us brainstorm opportunities, and then plan how we’ll take advantage of them.<\/h5>\n
While this type of approach is important, we also need to consider much more than this can we apply if we want to be successful.<\/h5>\n
After all, there’s no point in developing a strategy that ignores competitors’ reactions or doesn’t consider the culture and capabilities of your organisation.<\/h5>\n
And it would be wasteful not to make full use of your company’s strengths — whether these are obvious or not.<\/h5>\n
Management expert Henry Mintzberg, argued that it can be difficult to get the strategy right. To help us think about it in more depth, he developed his 5 Ps of Strategy — five different definitions of (or approaches to) developing strategy.<\/h5>\n
Mintzberg first wrote about the concept in 1987.<\/h5>\n
Each of the 5 Ps represents a different approach to strategy.<\/h5>\n
The 5Ps stand for:<\/h5>\n

\n\t\t\t<\/path><\/svg>
\n\t\t\t<\/path><\/svg>
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/summary>\n
The Plan is an approach that recommends planning in advance.
It’s developing the strategy with a purpose or a predefined goal with very specific steps that you wish to follow to achieve success.<\/h5>\n<\/details>\n

\n\t\t\t<\/path><\/svg>
\n\t\t\t<\/path><\/svg>
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/summary>\n
Figure out a way to surpass your competition, slow them down, or kind of trick them.
Figuring out the one move that can put you at an advantage versus your competition is very crucial while following the 5Ps.
It’s something like buying the only factory that produces plastic cups in the region so the competition would struggle in producing similar cups.<\/h5>\n<\/details>\n
