Learning from success
\n<\/h3>\n

There’s no doubt that everyone wants success and aims for it.<\/h5>\n
Leaders specifically, do their best in everything to achieve success for their team, their organisation, and of course, themselves.<\/h5>\n
If there’s one thing that organisations and leaders everywhere share in common, it’s the aim to achieve success as a result of their efforts.<\/h5>\n
Therefore, there is quite a big difference in terms of how each organisation or leader chooses to<\/h5>\n
define what success would look like for them.
But there’s always a question that all of us get in our heads fueled by the need to know that we’ll one day achieve success through our contributions and efforts.<\/h5>\n
Of course, there’s another aspect to success that many of us share in common which is, what do we do once we achieve that success? And by this, We’re not referring to how we choose to acknowledge or celebrate this accomplishment.<\/h5>\n
Rather, I’m referring to that moment when the fog settles and we look with pride at what we’ve achieved and find ourselves stuck with that lingering question — so, what do we do now?<\/h5>\n
If you look at any successful leader, you can see the answer that they share the focus which tends to be on how to replicate both the conditions and measures they took that allowed them to achieve thissuccessful outcome.<\/h5>\n
In simpler words, they look into the steps that they made with a focus to make the one success multiply into 2 & 3 successes.
That is learning from success.<\/h5>\n
Successful leaders don’t focus on success and throw parties every time they reach a milestone, they focus on what made them reach this.
They reflect on the past and learn how they can apply it.<\/h5>\n
It’s definitely an encouraging thing to celebrate the success you made, we’re not against it at all.
But this is a topic for another lesson, for this one, let’s first focus on how we can learn from success.<\/h5>\n
Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you blame yourself for when things didn’t go right and then all of the sudden it went exactly as you wanted and you got that amazing feeling of victory after the battle?<\/h5>\n
Success is often a self-indication that we did something correctly and so great, it feels good especially if success came after a series of failures.<\/h5>\n
After the storm passes, focusing on what we did correctly can soften the blow from the information on what we did not do so well throughout our down periods.<\/h5>\n
After a successful experience, we learn best from focusing on what we did wrong.<\/h5>\n
After success, we may feel safe and more prepared to discuss errors more freely without having to protect our self-worth with no internal self-destructing talk.<\/h5>\n
A great thing about success is that it teaches us that we can reach whatever we want if we are persistent enough.<\/h5>\n
Challenging the status quo and being resilient in front of obstacles is one of the key takeaways from success.<\/h5>\n
Now, that’s not to say that we need to constantly disrupt what we do to achieve success.<\/h5>\n
On the contrary, it means that we need to be mindful in ensuring that our successes don’t result in us being consistently challenging ourselves to figure out how we reach it and be better going forward.<\/h5>\n
Something that is especially true when leaders are facing obstacles that would require a great amount of time and resources to overcome in order to achieve a critical goal going forward.
