What is Strategic Management? \nAnd how is it related to SHRM? \n<\/h3>\n
SM is defined as the process of evaluation, planning, and implementation designed to maintain or improve competitive advantage.<\/h5>\n
It has a certain process that is known as a best practice worldwide, Usually, managers start by identifying a mission statement that helps in setting a future direction or what is known as a common goal for various teams and departments.<\/h5>\n
Then, they conduct environmental analysis to scan different factors that may affect the business (either internally or externally).<\/h5>\n
After that, they evaluate different business aspects to highlight areas of possible change.<\/h5>\n
Such aspects include resources (e.g., financial, capital, physical, technological, and human); and systems (e.g., culture, work systems, structure, past strategy and performance, dynamics\/politics, and decision-making process.<\/h5>\n
Followed by setting goals and objectives that must be SMART to be motivating enough for employees to follow and feel committed to.<\/h5>\n
Finally, all these steps will help in formulating a business strategy that should be aligned with departments goals and objectives.<\/h5>\n
Nowadays, one main source of competitive advantage is “people”. Based on the Resource- based View (RBV) Theory, employees (especially talented ones) are rare to find and to imitate.<\/h5>\n
Therefore, businesses who attract talents from the market (such as Google) is distinctive among competitors.
