In other words, participants are selected simply because they are convenient to reach, and not because they represent a particular target population.<\/h5>\n<h5>For example, a researcher who wants to study the opinions of college students on a particular issue might conduct their research by approaching students who happen to be in a particular location, such as a student lounge or a cafeteria. The researcher would then ask those students if they would be willing to participate in the study.<\/h5>\n<h5>Convenience sampling is often used in situations where it is difficult or impossible to get a representative sample from the population of interest. However, because the sample is not selected using a rigorous sampling method, the results may not be generalizable to the entire population, and may suffer from bias. The researcher then sets a quota for each subgroup based on the proportion of that subgroup in the population. Participants are then selected until the quota for each subgroup is filled.<\/h5>\n<h5><font color=\"#000080\">For example, if a researcher wants to study the opinions of a population with 60% female and 40% male, the researcher would set quotas for each subgroup accordingly.
