Major sampling techniques are:<\/h3>\n

Non-probability (non-random) sampling.<\/font><\/h5>\n
Non-probability sampling is a sampling method that uses non-random criteria like the availability, geographical proximity, or expert knowledge of the individuals you want to research in order to answer a research question.<\/font><\/h5>\n
Non-probability sampling is used when the population parameters are either unknown or not possible to individually identify.<\/h5>\n

Visitors to a website that doesn’t require users to create an account could form part of a non-probability sample.<\/h5>\n

Types of non-probability sampling<\/h3>\n

    \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tConvenience sampling\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
    Convenience sampling is a type of non-probability sampling technique where the sample is chosen based on its easy availability and accessibility to the researcher. In other words, participants are selected simply because they are convenient to reach, and not because they represent a particular target population.<\/h5>\n
    For example, a researcher who wants to study the opinions of college students on a particular issue might conduct their research by approaching students who happen to be in a particular location, such as a student lounge or a cafeteria. The researcher would then ask those students if they would be willing to participate in the study.<\/h5>\n
    Convenience sampling is often used in situations where it is difficult or impossible to get a representative sample from the population of interest. However, because the sample is not selected using a rigorous sampling method, the results may not be generalizable to the entire population, and may suffer from bias. Therefore, convenience sampling should be used with caution and the limitations should be acknowledged when interpreting the results.<\/h5>\n

      Quota sampling is a non-probability sampling technique that involves dividing the population into subgroups or strata based on certain characteristics, such as age, gender, income, or education level. The researcher then sets a quota for each subgroup based on the proportion of that subgroup in the population. Participants are then selected until the quota for each subgroup is filled.<\/h5>\n
      For example, if a researcher wants to study the opinions of a population with 60% female and 40% male, the researcher would set quotas for each subgroup accordingly.
