Uber is a ride-sharing service that allows users to request a driver on their phone. The app can be downloaded on any smartphone, and it uses GPS to locate the user, who is then connected with a nearby driver.<\/h5>\n
Uber’s data visualization team uses this data to better understand how users are using their service—and how they can improve it.<\/h5>\n
Uber’s data visualization team is responsible for making sense of all kinds of information:<\/h5>\n
where customers are requesting rides, which drivers are picking up the most passengers and when, where the most people are waiting for rides, etc. They use this information to help them optimize their business model<\/h5>\n
for example, by changing the pricing model based on demand or adding more drivers at certain times of day when there are high spikes in activity.<\/h5>\n
Uber also uses data visualization to make sure that its drivers are safe, efficient, and well-prepared for rides.<\/h5>\n
When a user accepts a ride request, they can see their location on a map as well as an estimated fare before accepting it.<\/h5>\n
This helps them know what kind of ride they’re getting into beforehand so they can make an informed decision about whether or not they want to accept it.<\/h5>\n
