360-degree Feedback

Another method of conducting performance appraisal is the 360-degree survey or feedback method. It’s a great method to get very thorough feedback on the individual based on everyone they interact with inside of the organisation.<\/h5>\n
If we’re talking about doing a 360-degree feedback for a leader, then you’ll be needing to gather inputs from their manager, their team, and their peers (the team members who are in different teams but they are on your same level or you interact with them very frequently) and a self-assessment from you about yourself.<\/h5>\n
If you’re conducting a 360-degree feedback on one of your team members you’ll usually gather feedback from you on him\/her, then self-assessment from him\/her on themselves and feedback from the other team members.<\/h5>\n
If there are no other team members, you can collect it from peers around them.<\/h5>\n
You can even include external parties to participate in the evaluation in case the person deals with external customers to collect their insights about their conduct with the team member.<\/h5>\n
The number of people involved in this process, the reviewers, ranges from 6 to 8 people and all of this gathered feedback must be anonymous, which means that the person being reviewed shouldn’t know who wrote what.<\/h5>\n
The great thing about 360-degree feedback is that it’s a multi-layer rating system, it provides extra insight that you can act upon.<\/h5>\n
By multi-layer rating system we mean that the anonymous input collected from various sources related to a team member was all picked because they work closely with the person and not randomly which can give much better insight than just collecting the evaluation from the leader alone.<\/h5>\n
They will get the chance to evaluate the person’s work ethic, work style, competence and even recommend areas for improvement.<\/h5>\n
