The model proposes that there are four basic leadership styles &#8211; directing, coaching, supporting, and delegating &#8211; and that each style is appropriate for different levels of follower readiness.<\/h5>\n<h3>The concept of situational variables<br \/>\n<\/h3>\n<h5>Situational variables are the specific factors that impact a given situation, such as the nature of the task at hand, the characteristics of the followers, and the organisational culture.<\/h5>\n<h5>These variables influence the effectiveness of a given leadership style, and are therefore critical to consider when selecting an appropriate approach.<\/h5>\n<h3>Example of Situational Variables<br \/>\n<\/h3>\n<h5>Imagine a manager who is responsible for leading a team of employees in a fast-paced and highly demanding work environment. The situational variables in this case could include factors such as the workload and deadlines, the skills and experience of each team member, and the overall culture and values of the organisation.<\/h5>\n<h5>Based on these variables, the manager might adapt their leadership style to better suit the situation.
